My Prelude to Jackson Hole
Growing up, my home was a confluence of two cultures, my father’s Moroccan heritage and my mother’s Filipina roots. Our house filled up for every occasion, and the table taught me early that people from very different places can build something warm together.
My parents, both immigrants, raised me to nurture connections and give back. Those lessons have followed me through friendships, businesses, and board work, and almost always there has been a good cup of coffee somewhere on the table.
After Columbia I landed in New York finance. The city never really slows down, so my high school sweetheart and I, married by then, kept finding quiet escapes. We skipped the big chains and hunted for small local coffee shops instead.
It was never just about the coffee. It was the pocket of community inside each shop, a calm counterpoint to the hustle on the sidewalk.
Westward bound
In 2014 Jackson Hole pulled us west and I founded Outpost. It grew into the valley’s top vacation rental company on the strength of real service and local ties.
One of those ties was Snake River Roasting Co. We put their coffee in every guest kitchen, and the relationship kept growing until it felt like the start of something bigger.
Merging visions
As my connection to the roastery deepened I started to imagine a bigger role in its future. Ruth Ann and Mark Barron had poured fourteen years into the business and were careful about who came next. They wanted their coffee, named for the river that runs through this valley, to keep warming the community they built it for. I felt the pull to carry that forward.
In 2022 I opened our first cafe just off the Town Square. Everything we believe in lives in that room, the altitude we roast at, the small batches on our 22-pound roasters, the door that stays open 364 days a year. When my wife and our three kids walk in with me we aren’t just getting coffee. We’re stepping into the community our family calls home.
We’re not just entering a coffee shop. We’re joining a community.

- After a workout and the joyful chaos of school drop-off, I treat myself to an Espresso Spritz made with our Lunch Counter Half-Caff. It’s tailored so I can enjoy up to two and still respect my noon caffeine cutoff.
- Crisp Mornings
- If the morning air has a bite to it, that spritz becomes a cozy Americano.
