Before making any decisions, we did our homework. We collected pricing data from dozens of specialty coffee roasters around the country – from small boutique roasteries to well-known third-wave coffee brands. This gave us a picture of the current market rates for high-quality coffee beans.

The 12oz bag is the standard unit most folks buy, so we focused on that. What we found was insightful: the most common price (mode) for a 12oz bag of specialty coffee was $20.00. The median price (half of roasters charge below this, half above) was $22.00, and the average price came out to roughly $22.64. In other words, plenty of top-notch roasters charge well above $22.00 for a 12oz bag, and a quarter of them even charge $25.00 or more.
Our New Pricing Structure
Here’s a quick rundown of the new pricing for all bag sizes:

Why 2.25× and 5.25×? We wanted to built-in a volume discount for buying larger quantities. A 2lb bag has about 2.67 times the coffee of a 12oz bag, but we’re pricing it at only 2.25 times the 12oz price. Similarly, a 5lb bag has 6.67 times the coffee of a 12oz, but we priced it at just 5.25 times the 12oz price. This means the bigger the bag, the lower the cost per ounce for you.

Bulk & Subscription Savings
When you choose larger bags, you’ll get significantly better value per ounce. Compared to our standard 12oz bags, a 2lb bag saves you around 16-19% per ounce, and choosing a 5lb bag increases your savings to around 27–28% per ounce.
It gets even better if you're a subscriber. Our subscription program provides an extra 15% off every order, which is among the most generous discounts in the specialty coffee industry. Combine your subscription discount with bulk savings, and your effective price per ounce can drop by more than 30% compared to purchasing individual 12oz previously.
