As our team sets out for the Specialty Coffee Association’s annual conference, we’re carrying more than just bags and badges — we’re bringing with us the spirit of Jackson Hole and a hunger to keep growing.

This week, some of our roasters, baristas, and coffee nerds will step onto the floor of SCA 2025 — a global gathering of the most curious, passionate, and innovative minds in specialty coffee. It’s a chance to learn, connect, and be inspired.

What We’re Focusing On at SCA

Every year, the SCA conference is a crossroads — where tradition meets innovation, and where coffee professionals push the craft forward. For us, it’s a chance to sharpen what we do best while discovering new ways to better serve our community, our growers, and our planet.

Here’s a closer look at the areas we’re focusing on this year:

Tasting Coffees

Expanding our palates is essential to innovation. By tasting coffees from different origins and processes, we gain inspiration for new blends, seasonal releases, and creative roasting approaches — all aimed at bringing fresh, exciting flavors to our community.

Tools and Techniques

Staying on the leading edge of roasting and brewing technology helps us craft consistently exceptional coffee. We're excited to explore new equipment, updated roasting software, and techniques that fine-tune every cup we serve.

Sustainability

Great coffee starts at the source. We’re eager to learn from growers, producers, and innovators who are creating more sustainable ways to farm, transport, roast, and package — helping us reduce our footprint while supporting the communities behind the bean.

Community Building

Coffee connects people — across cafes, countries, and cultures. We’re looking forward to meeting fellow roasters, farmers, and entrepreneurs who share our commitment to quality, collaboration, and the greater good of the coffee community.

Carrying Jackson Hole

Wherever we go, Jackson Hole comes with us. The rugged beauty, the spirit of adventure, the altitude that shapes every roast — it’s at the heart of who we are. We’re proud to represent our home on the world stage.

Each focus area we explore is tied back to why we started Snake River Roasting Co. in the first place — to craft coffee that’s inspired by where we live and fueled by a spirit of adventure. As we walk the floor at SCA, every tasting, conversation, and discovery will be with our community in mind — bringing the best of the coffee world back home to Jackson Hole.

Tasting Coffees and Exploring New Techniques.

We live and breathe high-elevation roasting, but nothing fuels our creativity quite like experiencing new coffees and methods. From funky natural Ethiopians to wild anaerobic Colombians, we’re excited to taste the experimental, the classic, and everything in between — expanding our palates and sharpening our craft.

Beyond the tasting floor, we’re diving into innovations in roasting, brewing, and cupping technology. Small improvements — from software updates to espresso equipment — have a big impact on quality, and we’re committed to always evolving, one roast at a time.

Sustainability That Makes Sense

While coffee can be a healthful addition to many people's diets, it's not suitable for everyone. High caffeine intake can lead to restlessness, anxiety, heart palpitations, and may even exacerbate panic attacks. It's also a diuretic, which can lead to dehydration if not balanced with water intake.

We’re excited to learn about ethical sourcing models, carbon-reduction efforts, and packaging innovations that help protect the future of coffee. Every decision we make is a chance to honor the people and places that make our work possible.

Building Community and Repping Jackson Hole.

Some of the most meaningful moments happen between sessions — connecting with fellow roasters, producers, and entrepreneurs who believe, like we do, that coffee is about people first. It’s a global community, rooted in shared passion.

And no matter how far we go, Jackson Hole is always with us. The rugged peaks. The spirit of adventure. The energy of the wild. We’re proud to carry our home with us, to share its story, and to bring new ideas back to the Snake.

Follow us!

We’ll be posting to Instagram throughout the weekend — and we’ll be back soon, brimming with ideas for your next great cup.

Stay tuned. There’s always more brewing.
